The White Flower

The day he gave me a white flower

and wished upon me its beauty

Beauty that makes it to the lover’s hair

Beauty that makes a child squeal with delight

The beauty in braveness

of putting itself out there

not knowing how long

the bloom will last.

The beauty of vulnerability

of being plucked, of being deprived.

Yet it blooms, in all its wonder

Because that is the worthy life.
